On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the Microb’Ex community gathered to attend the auditions of the candidates for the 2025 Microb’Ex Call for Projects, as well as to take part in the round table discussion on the educational part of the Microb’Ex project.

2025 Call for Projects – Results
Following the auditions, the evaluation committee and the scientific board selected six collaborative projects to receive MicrobEx funding:
Two PhD grants were awarded to the following projects:
- Role of HMOs in modulating the risk of dysbiosis and the immune response during the infant gut colonization process: association with the emergence of environmental enteric dysfunction – Led by: Violeta MOYA ALVAREZ & Julio AIRES (candidate: Pascal SEGURA KLIESOW)
- Extracellular vesicle contribution to human cerebral malaria – Led by: Rachida TAHAR & Sandrine BOURDOULOUS
Four seed grants for collaborative projects were awarded to the following:
- Elucidating the Molecular Mechanisms of BK Virus Infection, Latency and Reactivation – Led by: Ali AMARA & Stéphane EMILIANI
- CIRCADIAN – CIRculation between humans and animals of a high-risk Escherichia coli ST410 clone carrying the NDM-5 carbapenemase: Characterization of phenotypic and genetic factors associated with Colonization and Dissemination – Led by: Laurence ARMAND & David SKURNIK
- Deciphering the consequences of pathogenic species interactions in a model of polymicrobial skin infection – Led by: Anne JAMET & Asmaa TAZI
- Addressing the physiological function of toxin-antitoxin systems in bacteria – Led by: Ivan MATIC & Maude GUILLIER
